2 Months!

I can't believe it. Our little boy is already two months old. When I look through pictures and videos I can help but be astounded at how quick one changes, grows, and learns new things. It is truly remarkable. The little boy who a few short weeks ago depended on his mom and dad for absolutely everything is already becoming more independent. He has learned that his hands and toes are a great source of entertainment. He will lay in his crib silently after waking enjoying the taste of his tiny, perfect fingers. He has discovered how to punch toys, get them to move and make sounds. He has figured out how to jump and rarely sits still in your lap. He has found great joy in watching the Tigger song again and again. He is beginning to realize sleep actually makes him feel better and generally falls asleep quickly without much of a struggle. He still doesn't like to waste too much of his day sleeping - just relies on those little catnaps to get him through. Peyton has a new noise to share with us everyday and what is even more exciting is that he is starting to use that cute voice in places other than his change table. He makes my heart overflow every day with his abundant smiles. One day I hope he shares that most beautiful smile with the world...but for now I feel kinda special that he saves his biggest, most heart-melting smiles for his mom and dad at home.

He had his first needles earlier this week. We heard lots of stories of the first needles being the easiest. I am hoping that is not the case. It was stressful for the little guy and he used that powerful scream that we hadn't heard in such a long time. He was definitely aware of what was happening to him and it took a while to calm him. After a little nap, however, he woke with a smile and made me feel that much better! 

Peyton is growing and flourishing. Less than a year ago Peyton was no larger than one cell, in a short 9 months he was a fully developed functioning human and in the last two months he has gained 6 pounds and grown 3 inches. In my eyes that is unbelievable. Babies are miracles I will never fully comprehend.

I am coaching soccer at the school. This gets me out of the house for about an hour and a half a few days a week. Leaving Peyton for that short time has been a challenge. Today marks a new milestone for me. I am leaving Peyton for the day for the first time. Some tears have already been shed. Not sure I can do it...but it is important that Peyton gets quality bonding time with his dad...and his dad needs that time with his little boy. Being a mom who gets to stay at home every day with her little guy is truly a blessing. Time to share that blessing with the man who deserves it equally as much!

On the positive side - this girl gets to spend some quality time with her own mom!
