Hello World

It's fascinating how life can change in the matter of a few seconds. Peyton Rhett joined us on July 19th at 2:45 in the morning. 8 pounds, 13 ounces and 21.5 inches long we have been blessed with a healthy baby.

Peyton is now 100 hours old. I was in love with him before I ever saw him and this love only grew the first time I got to hold him in my arms. Peyton, I love the many faces you make when you are wide awake and sound asleep. It makes me wonder what you are thinking. I love the way you get startled at loud noises. It tells me that you have been blessed with the ability to hear the world around you. I love the way you lock your eyes on mine and focus for those few precious moments making me feel like you know I'm your mommy. I love the way that your little fingers tightly clasp mine. It is as if you are saying, "keep me safe." I love watching you in your dad's arms. Those are my two men who I'd be lost without!

So school has been over for about a week. All things considered the week has passed rather quickly. Hopefully the next week (or two, or three) do much the same. I am getting bored, but that's not a huge surprise. It doesn't take long for me to begin to feel isolated during the summer months. The difference is this year I can't start getting ready for school in September so I'm left feeling a little more lost. Soon I'll have constant companionship, and Sean will be with us for a week or so as well.

While a large part of me can't wait to meet bean, there is another part of me that can't believe this is actually so close to happening. That's the same part of me that is okay if bean waits a little while to make the grand entry into this world.

I had to go for an ultrasound this morning. I am left wondering how accurate their weight predictions are. I was told that as of today "little" bean was 8 pounds 2 ounces. Big...healthy...baby. That explains why I'm starting to feel appendages protrude from all sides of my belly. Maybe waiting another 3 weeks isn't such a good idea!
