I'm tired. It's good that the weekend is within sight. A weekend with no big plans. Just what I need. Every drive to and from school continues to be a dangerous venture as I have to actively seek ways to stay awake. Sometimes it's scary. Just sometimes though. For the most part I feel like I'm in control. I've learned a few tricks to keep the eyes from trying to sneak shut. The first, and probably safest, option is to fire off some texts. This not only gets my mind working, but it allows me to anticipate a response, therefore fighting of the drowsiness for at least a few more seconds. If I'm not texting I'm usually talking on the phone with my mom. That works well too, and it might be a little safer. Finally, I just remind myself to keep moving. I have to continually fidget to keep my attention focused on something other than my tiredness. Chewing gum works for a few minutes. I have also found that eating while driving generally works wonders.
I got through the weekend in Killarney. It was an enjoyable, but long, couple of days. The hotel wasn't exactly what you would call luxury. I may have acquired lung cancer from inhaling the second hand smoke that resonated from the sheets and 1940s furnishings. We were all startled awake at about 4:30 in the morning by a blaring car horn in a malfunctioning vehicle. This was no panic button, it was solid horn, and it was right outside our paper thin motor hotel wall. After a few long minutes of hearing the horn it was finally put to rest, only long enough however, to allow us to fall asleep before going off again about 2 hours later. I took that as I sign to get up for breakfast. Not before a shower. The towels, which also smelled of smoke, were about the size of a dish cloth and quite possibly as old as me. I hope that they were clean.
The day that followed was better than the night. The girls played their best ball of the season. They managed to pick up a win. It's a great group of kids who know how to make some less than ideal situations enjoyable. I was happy to get home Saturday night.
The weekend went too quickly. I got home Saturday night at 7, and by 7:50 was back on the road.
This week has been equally as fast paced and busy. Tonight is the first night that I've actually had a couple of hours to get stuff done around my apartment. My clothes finally got cleaned. I got some marks updated, unpacked, and then packed again.
Tomorrow is hockey in Stonewall. Game 5 of the series. Last game was quite the roller coaster. Up 4-1, then down 6-4. The goalie gets pulled and somehow they manage to score two goals in the last 58 seconds to send to overtime. They deserved to win...sort of. It was time that they got a bounce.
Time to get ready for bed. Maybe if I fall asleep early the ride tomorrow won't be as chancey. Actually, Friday's are generally good because I'm just excited that it's the weekend. Even if it means living out of a bag I quite look forward to it.

Maybe if I glue my eyes open...
